An 18-wheeler truck carrying sugar cane crashed into several vehicles and an apartment complex when a car pulled out in front of him. The driver of the big truck swerved to miss the car head-on, but still hit it and then struck a parked pickup truck. Both vehicles then crashed into an apartment building where a man inside was injured. According to reports, the 18-wheeler also struck an SUV parked at the apartment complex. The woman driving the car that pulled out in front of the big truck was airlifted to an area hospital. Two other people were injured, but details on their condition weren’t available. Whole rooms of the apartment building were visible from the outside because of knocked-down walls. The 18-wheeler’s load of sugar cane spilled out in front of the building. The car accident closed La. 20 for more than an hour. The accident is still being investigated. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved.
