Baton Rouge Police Offers Free Self-Defense Classes
A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog about being safe and being aware of your surroundings titled “Self Awareness is Self Protection”. Being aware is only the first step to safety; the next step is learning to defend yourself.
Starting this week, Baton Rouge police are offering FREE self-defense classes for women!
The Baton Rouge Police Department will be hosting four sessions of “The Equalizer”, a free self-defense class for women. The sixteen-hour class will be offered in four parts on the following nights:
Session 1-October 23, 25, 30, and Nov. 1
Session 2-November 6, 8, 13, and 15
Session 3-December 4,6,11, and 13
Session 4- January 8, 10, 15, and 17
Classes will be held at the Police Academy gym, 704 Mayflower, starting each night at 6:00pm and ending around 10:00pm.
Participants must be at least 13-years old with no current injuries. This class involves hands-on, physical training. Attendance at the first session is mandatory in order to be eligible to attend subsequent sessions.
There is no cost to participate. Anyone interested in attending should contact the Training Academy at (225) 389-3886.
This is an excellent opportunity for women to learn the skills they need to protect themselves.
Help spread the word about these free classes to your family, friends and co-workers!
