Gordon Invited to Attend Livingston Parish Chamber Installation Banquet

I was feeling in good spirits after my doctor’s visit and decided to accept an invitation to attend the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce Official Swearing-In of the Chamber’s 2012 Board of Directors. This was the Chamber’s First Installation, and the luncheon was held at Forrest Grove Plantation. As I drove up to Forrest Grove I was impressed with the beauty of the peaceful country setting of the Plantation tucked away in Denham Springs, Louisiana.

The Chamber had a great turn-out and Livingston Parish was well represented. Jerry Denton and his staff ensured everything went smoothly, and I enjoyed quick visits with Senator Dale Erdy, City Councilman John Wascom, Chamber Secretary/Treasurer Sue Evarts, and Chamber Director at Large Jackie Dykes. I was impressed with newly-elected Parish President Layton Ricks and feel confident that he will provide the right leadership to a parish that is enjoying record growth. It was my pleasure to visit with Charles Wade, and he and Diane Adams did an outstanding job assuring everyone was served a delicious and timely lunch.

During the ceremony, Judge Robert Morrison, III, donned his judicial robes and swore the newly elected Board of Directors into office. Afterward, outgoing Chairman Margot May passed the gavel to the 2012 Chamber Chairman, Regina Scott, who introduced the 2012 Board of Directors.

Executive Director April Weir and Karla Needham, did a great job of organizing today’s event and the Chamber is flourishing under April’s guidance. The Chamber serves as a catalyst in efforts to attract businesses to Livingston Parish and sponsors various monthly and yearly events which include recognizing outstanding students and awarding scholarships to parish high school seniors.
