Celebrate Life | Gordon McKernan
This past weekend I enjoyed a quick trip to the Gulf Coast with my wife, two sisters and their husbands and had the chance to reflect on my faith, my family and friends.
I think people are naturally drawn to water perhaps for different reasons. That weekend I was looking for serenity. The weather at the beach was picture perfect. With just a hint of a cool chill that lingered in the early morning hours, I was easily coaxed out of bed for an early morning run. As I ran, I watched as the sun rays slowly chased away the early morning shadows. I thought about my dad and how I grew up running with him and decided to run a race for him that he would truly appreciate. More details to come on that later.
I was able to have a long beach walk with my wife, Shannon. As we walked the beach, I listened to the sounds of the waves rhythmically crashing on shore. The warm, soft sand underfoot felt good and the long walk was relaxing. As I looked out at the light reflecting off the water, I thought about life and how blessed my journey has been thus far. Even though I am dealing with a deep personal loss, His praise will always be on my lips.
Take time to appreciate your blessings …. take time to celebrate life and our Creator.
