The title coffee matters could be taken in many different contexts. Coffee matters to a vast majority of the US population, many depend and cannot live without it. Coffee matters to our health as well, how much coffee consumption is too much for health risks? Or are there health risks in drinking coffee? This was a topic I wanted to explore more intently.
I have always heard growing up, coffee might stunt your growth or it can give you cancer. The list is quite lengthy of health concerns related to coffee consumption however I found that drinking it in moderation could actually do your body well. According to my research, studies have found that there is no direct connection between cancer, heart disease and coffee, cited by the Mayo Clinic. Newer studies have also shown that coffee may have benefits, such as protecting against Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes and liver cancer. And it has a high content of antioxidants, according to The Mayo Clinic.
I know that we think we’re out of the woods and everyone can go back and continue drinking their favorite Community or Starbucks Coffee, but just like everything else you do in life, you must drink coffee in moderation.
