November 27, 2012
LOUISIANA — An early morning accident claimed the life of a young man who appeared to be impaired.
Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L are investigating a fatal car accident on LA 433 approximately 1.5 miles west of U.S. 11. The accident occurred shortly after 5:00am and took the life of the driver, 24 year old Jeffrey Cuccia of Slidell, Louisiana.
According to reports, Cuccia was traveling west on LA 433 in a 2003 Toyota Camry when, for unknown reasons, the car left the roadway and struck a tree on the left side, causing the car to overturn. Cuccia was wearing a seatbelt; however, received fatal injuries in the wreck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers suspect drug impairment to have been the main factor in the crash pending toxicology analysis by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
Drunk driving accidents often increase during the holiday season. Whether impaired through alcohol, drugs, or a combination of the two, the consequences of driving while impaired are often deadly. The effects of a drunk driving accident can change your life in an instant. Don’t drink and drive this holiday season.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Cuccia.
