Fatal Accident - Victim Not Wearing A Seatbelt
December 5, 2012
I’m saddened to hear of yet another life that was lost due to not wearing a seatbelt.
A 56-year-old man died last week in a two vehicle accident on US 190. According to reports, the man was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and was ejected from the vehicle.
Louisiana State Police report that the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday night, November 29. Ronni Sproles was driving on US 190 and then attempted to turn left through a guardrail barrier opening. Sproles was then struck by another vehicle.
Officials say Sproles was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, received moderate injuries.
I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a serious crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Buckling up before every trip is the most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in an accident.
God Bless and Be Safe.
