Job Description Summary:

The Paralegal assists his or her assigned attorney(s) in all aspects of case management, from case inception to settlement or in some cases transfer to another attorney or department. The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact checking; and trial preparation It is expressly understood and practiced that all duties associated with this position are performed under the direct supervision of his or her assigned attorney(s) and immediate supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:

  •  Maintain client communication on a regular basis.
  • Gather and analyze intake information, as well as relevant documents associated with new files and enter pertinent information into case management software.
  • Initiate claims, verify coverage and maintain communication with insurance adjusters to provide case status updates.
  • Maintain a checklist of standard tasks and reminders associated with cases assigned to you, through our case management software.
  • Coordinates investigation of defendant’s insurance coverage.
  • Input and maintain health insurance liens.
  • Prepare documents and correspondence such as letters of representation, demand letters, billing inquiries, etc.
  • Assist clients in coordinating medical care for injuries associated with their case
  • Input and track all expenses associated with client files by utilizing case management software.
  • Collect documentation of all damages sustained such as medical records, bills and loss of wages.
  • Review and interpret medical records and reports.
  • Draft settlement demands for attorney review.
  • Update case details regarding demands, settlements and closings on a regular basis by utilizing case management software.
  • Barring any unforeseen circumstances, all paralegals/legal assistants are required to meet specific daily goals with regards to using our case management software.  These goals include making a minimum of 50 case notes a day, saving scanned documents to cases within 3 days of receipt, and performing tasks within 3 days after appearing on your checklist.
  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
  • Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Assists attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
  • Develops and maintains Attorney calendars.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Minimum Education & Experience requirements

  • Paralegal certification.

Preferred Education or Experience

  • Two years of related experience and/or training.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
