Meet Attorney Vergie Riley | Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys
It is a pleasure to welcome Vergie Riley to Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys. As one of our newest associates, she brings a wealth of valuable experience to our team including a law and medical background, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an attitude of perseverance. Vergie wanted to pursue law at a very young age, but says she “became sidetracked” at the age of 15 when she interned at a charity hospital. Her nurse mentor inspired her to go into the medical field.
Getting her nursing degree, Vergie began practicing recreational therapy. Helping people in this manner was rewarding to her, but there was still a nagging feeling to pursue what she wanted to do as a young child—become an attorney. The decision to change careers didn’t come without obstacles. “Going back to pursue what I loved wasn’t easy. I had to start back at square one and work my way up.”
Upon graduating from Southern University Law Center, Vergie began clerking for the Honorable Judge Donald Ray Johnson at the 19th Judicial District Court before starting her own practice and then landing her position here at Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys.
When asked about her favorite aspect of joining our team, Vergie was emphatic. “I appreciate the great support system here. It is family-oriented and I am truly blessed to be here.”
Congratulations, Vergie on your recent nuptials and welcome to the team!
