My wife and I have four teenagers, one has their driver’s license, one has their driving permit and the other two are up and coming. As you can imagine safety and driving is a very important topic in our household. As a personal injury attorney, I often see the devastation that can come from a crash resulting from distracted driving or texting while driving. My wife and I make it a point to consistently have conversations with our children about the dangers of texting while driving. We also make it a point to set a good example by not doing it ourselves. So you can imagine my frustration this morning as I’m taking my children to school and we pull up next to a police officer that is texting while he is driving!
This serves as an excellent opportunity to remind public authority figures and parents that they are often looked up to and what they do sets an example for all of those around you, especially children that look up to you every day and follow the example you set.
Please, please do not text and drive, buckle up and be safe.
