School Days, School Days Dear Old Golden Rule Days, Readin & Ritin & 'Rithmetic | Gordon McKernan
As the southern heat continues to blanket Louisiana, our thoughts are turning to cooler days of fall and the start of school. The new school year will bring changes to many households; so much to do and so much to get ready. School checklists include confirming immunization shots are up-to-date, figuring out new bus schedules, and purchasing school supplies and school uniforms.
This fall, two of our own will be experiencing “first”. Attorney Shannon Eastman-Stuart’s oldest daughter, Tori, will be going out of state to attend freshman classes at Oglethorpe University in Georgia. Because of her academic achievements at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, Tori was offered a scholastic scholarship to attend classes at Oglethorpe, an independent, highly-selective, liberal arts institution.
Tori’s studies will be centered on physics and theater and Shannon is proud of Tori and is excited that she has the opportunity to attend a school that is known as the “College of the Heart”.
Jessica Mclin, Lien Verification Specialist, will also be starting her college freshman career with a “Full-Ride Bowling Scholarship” at Southern University. Jessica signed her letter of intent in April on Friday the 13th, and has been eagerly awaiting the start of school. In addition to the Scholarship from Southern University, Jessica has earned numerous State and National Bowling Scholarships through the U.S. Bowling Congress and was the recent recipient of the Jay Guidry Memorial Scholarship.
Jessica has always been athletic and her love for bowling started at the early age of four. She is grateful that her bowling skills are going to enable her to pursue studies in Criminal Justice, and has hopes of eventually getting accepted into Southern University Law School.
Congratulations, Tori and Jessica!
