Free Car Seat Inspections in Baton Rouge for National Seat Check Saturday

Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys is partnering with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force to host free car seat inspections in Baton Rouge. The event is on Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 5656 Hilton Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70808.

This event supports National Seat Check Saturday, a nationwide initiative to ensure children are properly secured while traveling.

Why Car Seat Safety Matters

Car seats are one of the most effective ways to protect children in the event of a crash, yet the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission estimates that 3 out of 4 child car seats are installed incorrectly. Incorrect installation can significantly reduce the safety benefits of car seats and put children at greater risk of injury.

At this event, certified technicians will check every car seat and provide hands-on assistance, helping parents and caregivers understand proper installation techniques. While the primary goal of the event is to check and install car seats correctly, a limited number of car seats are available for Louisiana families in need.
