The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) was notified of the crash shortly before 11:30 a.m., leading to over four hours of backed-up traffic on the West Bank Expressway. The congestion even extended as far as the Lafayette Street exit, causing drivers to seek alternate routes and resulting in significant delays on other Westbank routes, including the Huey P. Long Bridge.
