Get Ready to Jingle: Code Beats Workshop Brings Creative Tech Fun to Louisiana’s Teens

We’ve got some exciting news for Louisiana’s high school crew!

Gordon McKernan and LSU computer science professor David Shepherd are teaming up to introduce Louisiana’s high school students to Code Beats, a program allowing them to remix the iconic “Get Gordon Jingle” into a hip-hop masterpiece. The free workshop will take place at LSU’s DMC Theatre on Saturday, March 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants will come, learn to program and make a beat in one day. At the end of the day, a panel of esteemed judges will review all submissions and select the top three beats in front of the attending students. These finalists will then have their creations shared with the public to vote for their favorite beat. Winners will receive gifts, while all attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a tech-meets-music adventure.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Professor Shepherd and LSU to empower Louisiana’s youth through the power of technology and creativity. This workshop isn’t just about programming; it’s about fostering innovation and collaboration.”
