The Backstory Behind the Hats

The inspiration behind the “8,888 Reasons to Rally” hats traces back to a defining moment in LSU Baseball history. Last year, Gordon McKernan made headlines by purchasing 8,888 rally shots at Rocco’s in Omaha, rallying Tiger fans and boosting team morale ahead of a crucial game. This act of solidarity proved to be a game-changer as the Tigers went on to secure the national championship title.

To commemorate this remarkable victory and the unwavering support of the fanbase, our team designed hats with the iconic slogan “8,888 Reasons to Rally.” The hats quickly became a symbol of unity and determination, with a few Tigers baseball players proudly wearing them during their celebratory parade in Baton Rouge.

Following the overwhelming success of last year’s “8,888 Reasons to Rally” hat giveaway event, which drew hundreds of enthusiastic fans to our office, this year’s collaboration with Modesto aims to reignite the excitement as LSU Baseball embarks on another thrilling season.

So, mark your calendars, rally your crew, and get ready to cheer on LSU Baseball like never before.
