About Todd W. Hernandez

Todd Hernandez is a graduate of Zachary High School, and he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies from Northeast Louisiana University in 1989. In 1992, he obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Southern University Law Center. Todd is a member of the Zachary High School Hall of Fame and the Southern University Law Center’s Judicial Wall of Fame.

Before joining Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, Todd worked as a criminal and civil litigation attorney and was then elected to serve as Judge for the 19th Judicial District Court in the Parish of East Baton Rouge in 2001. As a trial judge for 18 years, Todd presided over criminal and civil cases, including several high-profile capital murder trials and high stakes civil claims.

Todd has been a licensed member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 1992. He has held memberships in several Judicial and Bar Associations, including the Baton Rouge Bar Association; Louisiana District Judge’s Association; American Judge’s Association; and the Louisiana and National Judicial College. He has served as a featured speaker in the areas of Attorney Professionalism and Ethics, Louisiana Criminal Law, and Trial Advocacy. Todd has also served as an Adjunct Professor of law teaching trial advocacy at the Southern University Law Center.

Todd has over thirty (30) years of legal experience as a practicing attorney and a judge, and he brings that experience to our team and clients at Gordon McKernan Injury Lawyers.

Todd and his wife, Shannon reside in Zachary, Louisiana and they are members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
