Gordon McKernan and Keyala Cottrell Partner for Back-to-School Event in New Orleans

We’re proud to announce that Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys is partnering with New Orleans business owner and influencer Keyala Cottrell for a free back-to-school event aimed at supporting local students and families.
The event will take place on Saturday, July 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Treme Recreation Community Center on N Villere Street. We’ll be giving away 432 backpacks filled with school supply kits to elementary and middle school students in the New Orleans area. In addition to the giveaway, families can enjoy free food, face painting, balloon art, a photo booth, and live music from DJ 6th Sense. LaTangela Fay, assistant program director at Cumulus Baton Rouge, will also be in attendance.
Thanks to the support of Councilman Freddie King III of District C, we were able to secure the Treme Recreation Community Center as the venue for this meaningful event.
This back-to-school celebration is just one of the ways we continue our commitment to serving Louisiana communities. Our partnership with Keyala began with a connection rooted in that same mission.
Earlier this year, Gordon met Keyala through a shared passion for community outreach and uplifting local voices. Their first collaboration marked the beginning of an authentic partnership, united by a common goal: giving back to the people of New Orleans. Keyala, a respected entrepreneur and content creator, has long used her platform to inspire and support families in her hometown. Teaming up for this back-to-school initiative was a natural next step.
“Our goal is to help ease the burden on families and give local students a confident start to the school year,” Gordon said.
Stay tuned to our social media for photos and highlights from the event, and if you’re in the New Orleans area, we hope to see you there!
