About Rusty LeBlanc

Rusty LeBlanc accepted the position as Executive Officer to Gordon McKernan in 2011.

With over 25 years of experience providing executive level assistance, Rusty has had the opportunity to work closely with several of the most respected and talented professionals in Baton Rouge.

After attending classes at LSU, she began work as LSU’s MBA administrative assistant, working with department head Dr. Johnson and economist Dr. Loren Scott. LSU’s MBA program has been recognized nationally for programs that promote entrepreneurship and economic development while providing cutting-edge business education.

Her career in the legal field began while employed at the McKernan Law Firm, where Rusty worked closely with the firm’s founder, Attorney J. J. McKernan, as his personal assistant. She provided high-level support to Jerry, a gifted litigator, while he balanced trials, business development, and politics. Probably her most challenging and rewarding job, Rusty benefitted from Jerry’s mentoring and her years of working for “The Boss” are some of her most memorable.

After a career shift, Rusty joined the staff at AIA Louisiana and worked with Executive Director R. Thevenot and K. Lachney, Director of Membership and Programs. This professional association is the state headquarters for the American Institute of Architects, which provides a support network to architects, and benefits its members by being a powerful voice that advocates a stronger economic climate for architects. A natural progression in her career from AIA-LA was her next position as the personal assistant to a well-known, successful Baton Rouge property developer. Her duties were fast-paced and demanding and varied from property acquisition to property development to property management.

Her return to Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys (GMIA) has been a true 360-degree turn in her career. Under Gordon’s direction, GMIA has grown to one of the top law firms in Louisiana. The firm is still based on Christian principles and continues to help clients resolve their personal injury claims fairly. Rusty respects the skills of Gordon and his team as they show compassion to their clients while providing them the highest quality of legal representation. She feels that her position as Gordon’s assistant has allowed her to continue to grow professionally, and she credits Gordon’s sense of humor for keeping her young at heart.

Rusty and her husband, RJ, enjoy a close relationship with their daughter who is currently attending Engineering classes at LSU. On the weekends, she and her husband enjoy treasure hunting and are often seen bicycling in their community. Rusty credits God for her many blessings.
