18-Wheeler Driving on I-10 Around Ascension-St. James Dives Into the Bayou Below

Skid marks on asphalt after an 18 wheeler accident

On Tuesday afternoon, traveling along I-10, an 18-wheeler was involved in an accident after veering off the road and being completely submerged underwater in the bayou near the Ascension-St. James Parish line. As reported by WBRZ, the incident temporarily shut down the westbound lane of the interstate, and authorities directed traffic into one lane on each side of the interstate while working on retrieving the 18-wheeler from the water. Reports say that no other vehicle took part in the accident, and the driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to the hospital for treatable injuries

Luckily the accident from Tuesday did not have any fatalities, but that is not always the case. In fact, many accidents involving large commercial trucks like 18-wheelers usually involve another passenger vehicle, the occupants of which often sustain severe, life-threatening injuries and, in the worst-case scenario, death.
