Accident on I-12 Leaves Six Horses Injured and One Dead

The exterior of a white horse trailer

During the night of October 18th, a pickup truck from Texas crashed into the treeline on I-12 near Sherwood Forest Blvd while pulling trailers carrying seven wild horses. Luckily, East Baton Rouge Animal Control and a local man were able to successfully locate and wrangle the horses. As reported by WBRZ, six horses were rushed to LSU Veterinary School for medical treatment, but sadly one passed from injuries sustained during the accident. Police reported that two people were also injured in the crash, one of which is currently in critical condition.

Car and truck accidents are not a rarity in Baton Rouge or all of Louisiana, with drivers, passengers, and their cargo often left to suffer from severe injuries and damages in the aftermath. Alongside coping with physical and emotional trauma, these victims also face the burden of financial stressors like medical bills, insurance bills, vet bills, and the cost of property damage
