Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week | September 2021
September 19-25, 2021 is Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week, an annual nationwide campaign that highlights the importance of ensuring that all children are properly secured in an appropriate car seat or seat belt.
Louisiana law states that all drivers and passengers, regardless of which seat they occupy in a vehicle, must wear a seat belt, or be properly restrained in a child safety seat that is properly installed. The fine for not being properly restrained is $50.
Child Passenger Safety Fitting Stations can be found across the state of Louisiana. These certified technicians can teach you how to select the proper child restraint, ensure that your child is placed into the restraint properly, and ensure that the restraint is correctly installed in your vehicle.
Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys and its charity arm, Gordon Gives, are active in hosting community-based events to support the children, families, and neighborhoods throughout the local areas. Every spring, Gordon McKernan hosts a car seat giveaway to give back to the community by providing car seats to those in need of one. Proper use and proper installation of child safety seats could be the difference between life and death in the event of a crash. Help us spread awareness of Child Passenger Safety! Let’s work together to keep our kids safe.
