Friday, the night of June 16th, chaos erupted outside Tiger Tavern Daiquiris on Highway 44 as a driver recklessly backed their truck into a crowd of individuals. Witnesses were left in a state of shock as the front of the bar suffered significant damage.
According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the suspect behind the wheel, identified as 32-year-old Micca Dotson from Prairieville, has been apprehended in connection with the incident. Dotson now faces a slew of charges, including driving while intoxicated (DWI), hit and run, reckless operation, aggravated criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace, and vehicular negligent injuring.
The horrifying accident was captured from three different angles on video, which shows the moment when the truck crashed into the crowd and the panic-driven aftermath outside of the bar.
Despite there still being visible damage apparent from the broken wood planks at the entrance, the bar is continuing to serve customers and has no plans of closing while the owners work on making repairs.
Meanwhile, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation. Authorities urge anyone who may have information regarding the incident to come forward and share any relevant details that could assist with the ongoing investigation.
In an insightful interview, an eyewitness, Whitney Tomlinson, revealed that Dotson was being kicked out of the bar for showcasing disruptive behavior before the accident occurred, leading her to believe that the accident was not an accident but an intentional attack.
