Lafayette firefighter injured after fire truck was smashed by drunk driver

A Lafayette firefighter’s condition is critical but stable after diving off an I-10 overpass near the Louisiana Avenue exit on Wednesday, March 10. He had to jump off the overpass to avoid his fire truck, which was hit by an allegedly drunk 18-wheeler driver out of Mississippi. Though we don’t know who the firefighter was, we know that he’s in the hospital and stable.

The 45 year old firefighter’s life was in major jeopardy when he fell 20 feet off the overpass. The driver faces charges of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, open alcohol container, OWI first-offense, and vehicular negligent injuring. Luckily, with phenomenal attorneys and lawyers, the survivor of this incident could receive compensation for the mistake of a drunk driver.

Drunk drivers are responsible for injuries all around the world, and driving a commercial vehicle under influence is utterly unsafe for all parties involved.
