Overturned 18-wheeler on Twin Span Bridge shuts down I-10

An overturned semi-truck on I-10 in Louisiana at night.

On Sunday morning, July 10th, an overturned 18-wheeler closed I-10 West as it was coming from Slidell towards New Orleans. The cause of the initial crash remains unknown, but reports state that the trailer of a tanker truck detached and slid 20 feet down the bridge. While the cab went down into the lake, thankfully, the driver only sustained minor injuries and is receiving care. While the situation seems minor, the aftermath of an auto accident involving a large truck, like an 18-wheeler, is more often than not severely devasting.

Luckily, no one suffered from life-changing personal injuries or losses in the tanker truck accident that occurred on Sunday. However, this is not the expected outcome for many who are victims of these types of accidents. Instead, many are left to deal with the debilitating damages and responsibilities while trying to overcome physical and emotional trauma. There are numerous hardships, including paying for expensive hospital bills, handling insurance companies, and vehicle damage costs.
