Gordon McKernan’s 3D Billboard Receives an Update to Celebrate LSU Football

A Vision Realized: Transforming a Billboard into Art

In 2014, we embarked on a groundbreaking venture with Lamar Advertising Company. Our goal was to breathe life into a standard billboard by transforming it into a captivating 3D spectacle. At the time, Lamar Advertising had recently introduced custom 3D object production, which provided the perfect canvas for our vision.

Leveraging Lamar Advertising’s 3D production capabilities, we brought life to a striking 16-foot tall, 200-pound foam cutout of Gordon McKernan and a 12-foot wide, 300-pound foam truck. These impressive 3D foam props were meticulously secured to the billboard structure, immediately turning heads and sparking conversations.

A Refresh and a Dash of Purple and Gold

We recently decided it was time to refresh our 3D billboard. But as creative minds tend to do, we couldn’t stop there. With LSU Football season in full swing, we saw an opportunity to integrate our billboard with even more spirit.

In collaboration with Lamar Advertising, we paid homage to the LSU Tigers by adding a purple and gold helmet to the refreshed head of the 3D statue on the billboard. We also updated the billboard’s vinyl language to read, “Get It Done, Tigers!”
